Scientific writing supports the generation of knowledge and serves the transfer of knowledge. Writing can be understood as a process of understanding and shaping towards clarity of thought and order, in order to communicate content concisely and comprehensibly based on this. The students write a seminar paper in small groups, observing the central criteria of academic writing (including citation rules, text structure, writing style). First, they determine the topic of this paper. As soon as a coherent writing project has been defined, they research sources and check them for their relevance. In the course of the writing process, they get to know different writing strategies and supporting work techniques in order to gain ideas for their own, situation-appropriate writing. The obligatory giving and receiving of peer feedback encourages students to examine their own text drafts and sharpens their focus for the necessary text revision before handing in the seminar paper. Peer feedback focuses on both the formal and stylistic requirements of this academic type of text. Finally, the students reflect on the collaborative creation process of their seminar paper. |
