Learning outcomes

The future world of work will be increasingly shaped by digital information and processes. Dealing with digital technologies and internet-based applications will become more important in almost all sectors and professions. In view of this advancing social transformation, the competent use of digital technologies and collaboration techniques will become a central prerequisite - not only for economic success, but also for social participation.

The importance of information systems for securing corporate success/existence is therefore beyond doubt. The aim of this course is to give students a holistic view of information systems including their components.

Students recognise the importance, value and pervasiveness of information systems in companies and organisations in order to positively influence business success and ensure competitiveness. They gain a basic understanding of different information, application and communication systems (type and functionality) including their components and interfaces.

Students recognise how information systems support internal performance processes and how information is exchanged with market partners such as customers and suppliers between companies. They can explain how information systems are strategically planned in the company and what is important during the introduction and development of information systems and during ongoing operation.
