Learning outcomes |
Academic writing is both a learning occasion and an examination. Above all, the Bachelor's thesis should ensure that a basic academic attitude and competence are built up during the course of study. The students should experience academic writing as a form of thinking, which calls for in-depth and systematic examination of content and structured elaboration. The students know the organisational and content-related framework of the Bachelor's thesis. They can explain their motivation and interest in the chosen topic and design a Bachelor's thesis that is worth working on, sufficiently narrowly defined, manageable, with a question or task, possible research design, work programme and a timetable for the implementation of this writing project. They conduct in-depth thematic research to clarify their academic question or task and check the researched sources for their relevance to their own writing project. They use this information to evaluate their work project in terms of its worthiness and workability. The students know the writing phase model of the writing centre of the library of the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences and can orientate themselves on it. They also know the importance of feedback for their own writing project and give/take targeted peer feedback on intermediate text steps of the Bachelor thesis. They implement the formal requirements for university texts.
