Course content |
The knowledge gained in the courses of the core subject and, if applicable, the practical project is applied by the participants in the business simulation game and the implementation and results are jointly evaluated and reflected upon. The participants practise their own application of methods from the core subject in a business simulation game lasting several days. In an error-friendly, cooperative, problem-oriented, complex and authentic learning environment, the business simulation game offers insight into typical tasks and practical challenges, contents and processes of the specialisation chosen by the student. |
Learning outcomes |
A business game is offered for each specialisation in the degree programme in International Business Administration, which is held as a block event lasting several days. The students consciously use their acquired knowledge from the field of supply chain management when solving problems in the business game and are able to establish connections between different areas of the chosen specialisation and other subject areas of business administration, as well as between theoretical concepts, methods and practical requirements in the implementation of the business game and its reflection. In doing so, the students are required to practically implement various methods and techniques from the chosen focus in the simulation and thereby select intervention methods situationally for the simulated processes and systems in a company and comparatively examine their probabilities of success. The students can generate insights for real company processes from the simulation and critically describe realistic and non-realistic aspects of the simulation for the practical transfer. The students practise networked holistic and cross-divisional thinking, potential for improvement is recognised, solutions and improvements can be conceived and realised in the simulation and adapted to the situation. The results of the business game and the strategies used in the simulation can be evaluated and solutions reflected upon. Conclusions and recommendations for action for potential improvements in business practice can be derived in a well-founded manner. Different possible solutions for typical problems in the focus area can be assessed in terms of their chances of success and effects. |
