Learning outcomes

A fundamental feature of the International Business Administration degree program is that all students complete a component abroad:

  • Study a complete semester at a partner university in a non-German-speaking country (or as a “free mover” outside the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences network)
  • Completion of the internship in a non-German-speaking country (in accordance with the requirements for creditable internships) as stipulated in the curriculum
  • Participation in the two-week study trips offered (especially for students of the part-time organizational form)
  • Participation in a short-term mobility, which is offered as a “Short Advanced Program”, “Blended Intense Program” or a similar format together with partner universities of the UASI in the RUN-EU network or with other university partners

Participation in such short-term mobilities offers students the opportunity to deepen their intercultural and language skills. As a rule, the short-term mobilities provide for an intensive joint preparation period with online elements, include a stay of at least one week at the host institution and conclude with a reflection unit. Insights into the culture and working methods of the respective host country and the countries of origin of the other participants shape the intercultural learning outcomes. The subject-related learning outcomes are given by the topic of the short-term mobility, which are offered as “Short Advanced Programs”, “Blended Intense Programs” or a similar format together with partner universities of the UASI in the RUN-EU network or with other university partners.

Students understand the importance of the cultural system of values and norms in the respective country and its influence on perception and interaction processes. They are able to research country-specific topics and understand how to use relevant sources and information. Students learn to cooperate with students and discussion partners in the respective country across cultural boundaries. They understand how to use their foreign language skills and how to carry out and present project-related tasks in this language. Students are able to use digital platforms effectively and efficiently in order to work collaboratively on projects in an international context.
