Prerequisites and co-requisites

Successful completion of all courses of the module Human Resources and Organisation.

Course content

• Personality and cross-cultural performance.

• Understanding technological, polito-legal and social differences that affect business practices in different cultures.

• Understanding cultural differences in communication.

• How culture affects perceptions of and practice of leadership skills.

• Adapting to radically different cultural etho. 

• Issues of globalization in the context of ethical differences in cultures.

Learning outcomes

This course aims to help students:

• Develop self-awareness of own strengths and ability required for success in cross cultural management.

• Learn appreciation for the complexity in cross-cultural and cross-national management.

• Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Learn application of concepts, and the problem-solving skills to real life problems for international management.

• Understand the political, socio-cultural, economic, and other differences across different countries that affect business practices and management.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Interactive course with lecture, case studies, discussions, exercises in individual and group work, presentations and homework.

Assessment methods and criteria

Pre-assignment, participation during the seminar in the form of contributions and short presentations (individual or group assignments), post-assignment, individual weighting as determined by the instructors, announcement at the beginning of the semester
