Course content

This course offers an introduction to the topic of creative writing and its use and application in the context of various professional writing assignments and writing projects.

The course discusses topics such as creativity techniques, optimisation of the writing process, writer's block, reflective writing, editing, etc. In addition, various text genres (short story, script, poem, report, interview) will be explored. Students will learn how they can apply such creative writing tasks to their self-regulated learning process in their specific subject field. The individual writing process and the written texts will be presented in the format of a portfolio at the end of this course.

Learning outcomes

This course offers a thorough introduction to the topic of creative writing. At the end of the writing lab successful students are able to:

  • Apply creative writing methods in their daily writing tasks or major writing projects (study & job).
  • Apply reflective writing in a professional context (study & job).
  • Write and edit their texts in a structured way and react to (peer-)feedback.
  • Develop and create a professional portfolio.
