Writing an argumentative 5 paragraph essay (teamwork) is the focal point of this course. Students can choose a topic of their choice as the basis for this task. Before that writing two coherent paragraphs will be part of practising coherence and cohesion in academic writing. |
| Learning outcomes |
Students are expected to acquire the necessary vocabulary and factual knowledge to generate and structure a coherent paragraph. This is the starting point for the written assignment, a clearly structured 5 paragraph argumentative essay. For this purpose concepts like topic statements, theses, and attention grabbers will be discussed and then implemented in the students' own writing. They will then also be able to identify the paragraphs patterns in different text types. |
