Core topic: IT-support of business processes, business process management in the context of IT implementation, from modeling to implementation by means of the system, information systems for the management; Method of approach: a) in-plant processes: integrated information systems (functions and structure of ERP-systems); b) cross-plant processes: electronic business (e-business standards, e-commerce, m-business); Overall contents: business process management, modeling processes by means of event-driven process chains (EPC), BPMN 2.0 and process automation, aspects of the configuration of selected systems dependent on business processes – advantages and disadvantages of important systems and system classes – application of selected products (e.g. standard business software using the example of SAP), business process excellence-solutions from the cloud, business process management software, process-oriented integration of applications (EAI, SOA), scope of application and types of data warehouse systems; |
| Learning outcomes |
This course bridges the gap between business-organizational methods and their IT-supported implementation. Students acquire a basic understanding of the use of business information- and communication systems in companies and thereby gain fundamental insights into the technologies and methods for designing and operating in-plant and cross-plant information systems. Students become familiar with a holistic approach to designing company information systems and the associated methodic basics for designing and modeling business processes by means of standard business software using the example of ERP- and workflow management systems. After completing this course, students will have the ability to describe and evaluate fundamental concepts and methods of decision-supporting systems with regard to data volume and fields of application. |
