Excel-based functions Advanced Excel functions in the field of economic computing, statistics, text editing Advanced graphics display Principles for designing reports

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - Students know advanced functionalities of MS Excel. - They know advanced techniques of designing spreadsheets, e.g. conditional formatting. Comprehension - Students understand the conceptual basis of the construction of advanced Excel spreadsheets. Application - Students can implement simple and advanced quantitative business problems in Excel. - They are able to implement simple control mechanisms to verify the accuracy of the spreadsheet. - They can extend the scope of Excel spreadsheets with database functions. - Students are able to generate target group -elated reports from existing Excel spreadsheets. Analysis/Synthesis - Students are able to work through simple and advanced quantitative business problems analytically. - Students design and document an Excel tool for the solution of practical quantitative business problems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lecture, exercises on the computer, presentations by students

Assessment methods and criteria

Development (Excel tool, 50%) and documentation (at least 5,000 characters, 50%) of an advanced Excel tool for controlling; various topics are available.

Comment

Students bring their laptop to the course. MS Excel 2010 or later must be installed on the computer.
