Course content
  • Vocabulary and phrases in a business context
  • Elements and structure of various communicative settings, i.e. discussions, negotiations, presentations etc.
Learning outcomes

The module focuses on the use of language in an organisational context. It enables students to actively participate in relevant communication situations and communicate safely in standard day-to-day business situations.

At the end of the course students are able to

  • communicate in a business context, i.e. analyst meetings, negotiation talks, sales presentations etc.,
  • know and apply common speech/phrases in standard business situations (meetings, mails, project business)
  • moderate business discussions,
  • communicate effectively in writing and verbally in a business setting.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Seminar complemented by group presentations and individual end-of-term papers.

Assessment methods and criteria

In-class 20%: written tasks and role plays

End-of-module: written exam
