Course content

With the Masters thesis, students should demonstrate the ability to answer a research question in the area of international business and intercultural cooperation on a scientific basis with a certain degree of novelty.

Learning outcomes

Students are able to

  • analyse a problem on a scientific basis and compare it with the current state of the art.
  • describe the objectives of a research work and delimit the problem.
  • develop and implement a solution that has a certain degree of novelty.
  • take into account the methodology of the respective field of study.
  • evaluate the results achieved and relate them to the starting point and the current state of the art.
  • document their own work and conclusions in the form of a written Masters thesis.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Independent work on a scientific basis coached by a competent supervisor at the university.

Assessment methods and criteria

The work must be written in English.

The written Masters Thesis is assessed by the supervisor from the FH Vorarlberg. The assessment is based on a standardised evaluation plan. Important criteria include

  • Formal aspects,
  • Content,
  • Structure,
  • Methodology,
  • Scientific autonomy.

An empirical survey is conducted in most studies. In these cases, the evaluation model is supplemented:

  • Adequacy of the research design,
  • Implementation quality,
  • Discussion of results.

If the results are transferred to practice, the conceptual design of the practice part and the practical relevance are included in the assessment.

The approval of the Masters Thesis is a prerequisite for admission to the final examination.
