Course content

The learning content varies according to the needs of the startup and can, for example, come from the following areas:

  • Foundation (legal form, location, etc.)
  • Financing
  • Growth hacking / scaling
  • Business Model
  • Lean startup
  • Internationalization
  • Marketing & Sales
  • Product development
Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to support the students with their own ideas from the innovation project when they start up their own business. This seminar goes beyond the themes of the early stages of business (pre-start-up phase) and focuses on key issues such as the growth and growth rates of startups.

Theoretical and methodological know-how (T/M)

  • Students know to plan the steps for successful implementation of their startup idea in the markets and identify problems and issues that are crucial to the successful implementation of their startup idea (eg growth hacking, financing, & sales marketing). They develop a mindset and practice to follow their startup ideas.
  • Students are able to derive solutions for the postulated problem / questions (for example through research, expert discussions) and are in a position to decide whether their startup idea has potential or not.
  • Students document their experiences in a report and critically reflect their activities and progress.

In addition, students develop social and communication skills (S / K) such as team leadership skills, empathy, motivational skills, conflict management, teamwork / willingness to cooperate, critical skills, negotiating skills and interviewing, reliability and self-competencies (S) such as self-reflection, adaptability, decision-making, responsibility, initiative, entrepreneurial competence, perseverance, scientific work, expressiveness and appearance. Furthermore transfer competences (T), such as analysis and presentation / communication skills, judgment and problem-solving ability, customer orientation, organizational skills and project management, due to the application of technical and methodical competence in social situation are trained.

Integrated course: 2 THW

Lectures and processing of individual topics in small groups. 

Assessment methods and criteria
  • Conceptual, written work: Reflection work in the group dealing with the postulated problems or questions of the startup. Derivation of well-founded proposals for solutions.
