Learning outcomes

This course is an introduction to digital image processing using the open source package OpenCV. The aim of the course is to enable students who want to deepen their knowledge in computer science to solve simple tasks in image processing.

After successful completion of the course, students will have an understanding of the basic concepts of digital image processing and knowledge of the relationships between camera, object and its image an overview of the most common recognition algorithms.

They are able to

  • select the correct recognition algorithm and
  • write software that can recognise specific structures (e.g. corners, edges, objects) in images with the help of the open source package OpenCV.
